On April 4, 2009, Alexandria Sanitation Authority along with Girl Scout troop 1163, Covanta Energy Alexandria and citizens of the community participated in the 21st Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup at Old Cameron Run Channel in Alexandria. Forty volunteers worked diligently to remove 1280 pounds of trash from the watershed. Although the day was windy and cold the team’s dedication prevented unsightly materials such as, beer bottles, Styrofoam cups, plastic bags and cigarette butts from entering into the Potomac River. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped in the cleanup. For more information on the cleanup: http://www.fergusonfoundation.org/trash_initiative/trash_cleanup.html
