Affiliated Associations and Organizations:
National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) - NACWA represents the interests of the country's wastewater treatment agencies, true environmental practitioners that serve the majority of the sewered population in the United States , and collectively treat and reclaim more than 18 billion gallons of wastewater each day. NACWA maintains a key role in the development of environmental legislation, and works closely with federal regulatory agencies in the implementation of environmental programs.
Virginia Association of Municipal Wastewater Agencies (VAMWA) - The Virginia Association of Municipal Wastewater Agencies, Inc. (VAMWA) is a statewide association of 56 local governments and authorities that own and operate municipal wastewater treatment plants. In addition, 21 leading engineering firms participate as affiliate members to keep abreast of changing policies and to support VAMWA members with their exceptional technical expertise.
Virginia Water Environment Association (VWEA) - The Virginia Water Environment Association, Inc. (VWEA) is a Member Association of the Water Environment Federation Our Association was formed as the Virginia Industrial Waste and Sewage Works Association in March, 1947. The name was changed to Virginian Water Pollution Control Association in 1961, and changed to Virginia Water Environment Association in 1992. Our parent organization, the Water Environment Federation (formerly Water Pollution Control Federation) was formed in 1928. Prior to our 1947 organization, a few Virginians were connected either directly with the Federation or the American Water Works Association.
Water Environment Federation (WEF) - Formed in 1928, the Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization with 32,000 individual members and 80 affiliated Member Associations representing an additional 50,000 water quality professionals throughout the world. WEF and its member associations proudly work to achieve our mission of preserving and enhancing the global water environment.
Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) - The Water Environment Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps utilities and corporations preserve the water environment and protect human health by providing science and technology research to enhance management of our water resources. |
